Wearing Prints

Spring is a time of the year to shed layers of wool, fleece, warming fibres for those light and airy garments, full of the colours and excitement of spring! What better way to step boldly into a new season by wearing a bold and bright print? While some can rock a print without a second thought, most of us have a bit of apprehension about wearing a piece of clothing that draws attention. If worn right a print or pattern not only brings confidence to our stride but also reminds us that our body is a blank canvas that we paint on through what we wear.
This spring/summer Radway has a beautiful selection of prints and patterns for you to have fun with! If you have been shying away from prints and feel the blossoming urge to step into something bold, we are here to help! Here are some tips for you as you plan your next bold and fun look:
Tip 1: mix a subtle print with a bright colour solid. Try to coordinate the solid colour with the undertone colour of the print. This will balance the look by creating cohesion between the bold elements of the outfit with the more subtle elements.
Tip 2: If you are just beginning to experiment with prints throw on a printed scarf or purse to liven up your look.
Tip 3: Don't wear print head to toe (unless you are wearing a printed dress).
Tip 4: Dress for your body type. If you are bigger on the top wear a black top with a printed skirt. If you are bigger on the bottom, wear a solid bottom with a printed top. This will elongate your form.
Tip 5: Mix prints. By pairing two different prints you will add dimension to your look. Try to go with two subtle prints, like a stripe and a little tie-dye. One print should not over power the other, but rather enhance each other.
Tip 6: HAVE FUN! There is no right or wrong way to dress, as long as you feel good, thats all that matters. If you love a print, try it on, see how it feels. You will catch on.
